Chiropractic

Chiropractors evaluate and treat the neuromusculoskeletal system, which includes nerves, bones, muscles, ligaments, and tendons. They use spinal adjustments and manipulation, as well as other clinical interventions, to manage health concerns, such as injuries, back and neck pain, headaches and balance complaints.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture points are believed to stimulate the central nervous system. This, in turn, releases chemicals into the muscles, spinal cord, and brain. These biochemical changes may stimulate the body's natural healing abilities and promote physical and emotional well-being.

I attended The Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy in 2023, where I learned therapeutic massage, as well as Shiatsu and craniosacral. I chose to work at Somatic because I strongly believe in the importance of holistic health. My passion for bodywork began when I was a birth doula. I was inspired by how physical touch impacted my clients, even helping them through unmedicated labor. When I was a doula, I took a wide variety of trainings, ranging from Spinning Babies to trauma-informed care, that still contribute to my massage therapy practice today. While I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, I am most experienced working with trauma survivors and postpartum folks. I am committed to tailoring individual treatments according to client needs. My treatments typically include Swedish, deep tissue, myofascial release, craniosacral, and Shiatsu techniques. I believe that massage therapists are eternal students, and I love taking continuing education courses to further my knowledge. When I’m not massaging, I love to swim in the river, make dinner for my loved ones, listen to podcasts, read poetry, forage for my favorite plants, and make art of all kinds.

I completed my massage training at East West College of the Healing Arts in 2018. When struggling with crippling shin spints in grade and high school, I learned how effective massage could be, but hadn’t considered it as a career until later in life. When exploring college options, I found an intriguing program in Lincoln, NE, where I received a Bachelor’s degree in International Rescue and Relief Medicine. I began working as an EMT, focusing on emergency medicine, then got my associates degree in paramedicine.

In my massage work, I love to mix deep tissue, stretching, and cupping with a sprinkle of table Thai. My goal is to provide a relaxing experience while getting to the source of pain for effective results. I also practice Swedish and prenatal massages.

I am so excited to continue in this career and to learn so many more modalities in the future. Some of the things that keep me active and loving life are my friends, my pitbull Grandpa, crafting, traveling, spinning poi, dirt biking, softball, snowboarding, seeing live music and going to the river every chance I get.

I’ve been fascinated and passionate about acupuncture and its potential for healing since my early twenties. I have been a witness to how effective and powerful acupuncture is in treating the whole body affecting emotions, physical, mental and spiritual. I have helped many people get well using Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practices and techniques when traditional medicine falls short.

I began my studies at the New England School of Acupuncture in 1980. It was the first and only college of acupuncture in the United States. I apprenticed under Dr. Ted Kaptchuk, OMD, founder of The Pain and Stress Relief Clinic affiliated with Harvard University. I also studied at the Shanghai Number One Hospital in Shanghai, China.

I was an early administrator and instructor at the highest ranking Traditional Chinese Medicine school in the nation: the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. I owned a successful integrative medicine clinic in New Mexico for 20 years and returned to Oregon seven years ago.

I treat adults of all ages, especially those suffering from: - Accident and trauma related pain - Sports injuries - Low back pain & Sciatica - Neck pain - Headaches & migraines - PMS & menopause - Immune deficiencies - Insomnia - Anxiety & Stress
